The Reality Television drama COPS is considered one of the rawest shows ever produced. Step by step viewers can ride along with men an women of various law enforcement agencies around the country as they take on some of the most bizarre crimes and criminals imaginable. The incidents can range from a simple domestic dispute that can turn into a dangerous car chase or who really know s what, and that is the enticement each episode of COPS brings… You just don’t know what is going to happen on COPS.
One of three episodes that aired on FOX television September 19, 2009, was centered around Deputy Jason Whitsell of San Bernardino County Sheriffs department responding to a call of someone breaking into a residence of a home that belonged to a person who was recently deceased.
This was a fairly bland episode as far as action goes, but the sadness of the situation is what grabs you.
On one hand, a deceased person’s home is being burglarized, and that just doesn’t really set right in your mind. Likely there is a family grieving and the last thing they need is to deal with some scum-bag breaking into their loved one’s home.
The we get to the culprit who breaks into the home and we discover that he is a homeless man, seemingly about as non-dangerous a persona as you can get. He has no weapons of any kind, no drugs and he didn’t try to resist arrest. This was just a sad episode of COPS in my opinion, but absolutely real, shining a light into some of the darkest areas of life itself.
