The Taps team blessed us with two investigations on Ghost Hunters this week, one in a New Jersey Court House and another in a New Hampshire home. The paranormal investigations brought two completely different results.
Investigation #1
Union County Courthouse, Elizabeth, New Jersey
History
The courthouse dates back to The Revolutionary War and many of the people buried outside the structure are soldiers who fought in the war. Hanna Caldwell, called the first woman to die in the Revolution, is buried out in the courtyard and is said to be seen many times roaming the grounds and buildings. Those working in the courthouse report seeing apparitions. There are also experiences of doors opening and closing by themselves.
Investigation
Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango, and Bruce Tango (Dave’s Dad) started their investigation in the rotunda of the building.
At one point Bruce heard something like footsteps behind him. When he heard them a second time, the team discovered some high EMF readings showing the energy of something. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson tried to debunk the modern doors opening and closing themselves by the court house’s record room. They found a window open and realized that a strong wind could shake the doors to produce the sound. Kris Williams and Amy Bruni went into the main courtroom, where they tried to contact Hanna Caldwell. At one point they caught a glimpse of something, a shadow like figure, followed by a ruffling noise. Bruce and Dave drew the short straws and had to investigate the graveyard. Nothing happened there.
Evidence
The team caught a curious human-like shadow figure walking into the picture and across the room into a bookshelf. The team thought it could have been a woman. In my opinion, this is some of the best video footage that Ghost Hunters has ever had. The evidence was used in their talk with the client, which revolved around some of the team’s personal experiences. The team didn’t blatantly call the courthouse haunted but did say they planned a return trip to further investigate.
Investigation #2
McNeil House, Hopkinton, New Hampshire
History
The residents of the home experienced a couch being moved, a stereo turning on by itself and going to full volume, doors opening, lights turning on, beds shaking and even a simple rug making it’s way across a carpeted floor. There was a rumor that five of a previous owners children died in the house of tuberculosis.
Investigation
Grant and Jason began investigating in the guest room where the bed has been reported to shake. The bed is sturdy and hard to move. Steve and Dave debunk a rug in the nursery which is said to move across the floor over time. They easily discover that day to day walking and turning could move the rug. Kris and Amy found that in one of the rooms where objects are said to move around, the floors are very uneven. A Flash light went on a wild ride rolling across and back on the floor. They had decided to just about give up when the radio came on upstairs. They discovered the radio has a timer and alarm and resets itself when it is unplugged.
Evidence
The TAPS team believed that they where able to debunk many of the family’s claims. However the bed shaking claim was still out there. They found out that there are some small earthquakes or trimmers and since the house leans inward, it’s possible some of these moving items could have been from these earthquakes. They instructed the family to take note of when things happen and maybe see if they correlate with any naturally occurring events.
