Henry Gibson died at age 73 on Monday, September 14, 2009, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Gibson was a comic character actor whose best television work included a regular role on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (pictured here), Nashville and more recently, Boston Legal. He died at his Malibu, California, home after a battle with cancer.
Gibson’s first career achievement took place in 1968 when he was got a role as one of the original members of Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, which turned out to be a hit for both NBC and Gibson. After three years on the show, Gibson ventured into the big screen, first lending his voice to the infamous pig, Wilbur, in the 1973 version of Charlotte’s Web. He went on to star in The Long Goodbye in 1973 as well as Nashville in 1975.
Over the years Gibson’s television guest appearances have been numerous, from shows like Trapper John, M.D. to the 1986 version of the Twilight Zone and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He landed another regular role in 2004 on Boston Legal as Judge Clark Brown, a role he would repeat 24 times over the next four years.
Gibson is survived by three sons and two grandchildren.
