The new season of Cops showCOPS premiered on September 12, 2009, and it brought viewers exactly what we’ve come to expect from what has been called the original reality TV Show – Lot’s of tense moments and lots of real life action.

Fox Television has a big rating night as a reported 3.83 million viewers tuned in for this season’s first episodes.  Of the three episodes that aired the one that intregued me the most was the first.  It involved seven year law enforcement veterian Deputy Lisa Guerra of the Hesperia Police Department.  The show opens with Deputy Guerra responding to a domestic violence call when all of a sudden the guy they are after doe striking his wife run through a red street light right in front of her and a high speed pursuit ensues.

After giving chase for a few blocks other officers block the driver off at an intersection and Deputy Guerra and about six other officers drags this guy out of the truck.  With the suspect handcuffed to the ground the emotional side of these officers come through as one of them really tears into the guy verbally.

No one was hurt in the incident but, the officer was angry about the risk this guy took and how many people could have been hurt by his reckless driving.

As a viewer I felt his genuine concern and disgust in the officer’s voice.  It appeared the officer may have had some experience in a high speed chase where some innocent person may have been seriously hurt. One thing was for sure, he was going to let this guy know how he felt about his reckless acts.

At the end of the episode, after the intensity cools down, we learn that the man and his wife had got into an agruement because she didn’t like his new “Mohawk” hair cut.  This was a not so gritty episode but a geniune view of an average guy doing something very stupid behind a general real life event.

The other two incidents were more gritty and you’ll enjoy the genuineness of real reality TV as only COPS can bring it to you.  This is a can’t miss show.
