Supernatural_01Supernatural comes back with a bang as Sam and Dean Winchester bring Lucifer out of Hell and into the world to start the Apocalypse. Sam and Dean narrowly escape Lucifer when they are supernaturally placed on an airplane. This is not entirely explained, but it does save them from Lucifer so it’s all good.

Chuck Edlund, author of Supernatural, the book series and prophet of Sam and Dean’s adventures, has a vision that the sword of Archangel Michael is on Earth and Sam and Dean must find it. If you know your Bible or even if you don’t since I am going to tell you now, it was the Archangel, Michael that originally smote Lucifer and sent him to Hell.

Bobby comes to the aid of the boys once again to help them figure out the cryptic message sent by Edlund as to how to find the sword of Michael.

As it turns out, Bobby is possessed by a demon and leads Meg and her croney right to Dean. Just as Bobby is about to kill Dean, he plunges the knife into himself to exorcise the demon and save Dean. Just in time, Sam enters the room, fights with Meg while Dean kills the croney with the knife and Meg disappears.

Dean decrypts the message and after dropping Bobby at the hospital, he and Sam head to the storage space where they hope to find the Michael sword. It turns out the demons beat them there, but so did the angels that had smote the demons. They announce that they had in fact lost the sword of Michael, but now it had been found. Dean is the sword of Michael. Dean! He is the vessel of Michael. He ,must accept Michael into his body so the angels can lead the war against the demons. Unfortunately, he needs Dean’s permission to enter his body. Too bad for the angels that Dean is a mean SOB.

Just in the knick of time, Castiel shows up to save Sam and Dean. He doesn’t explain how he is there since he died at the end of last season, but he does clue us in to the fact that he is the one that out Sam and Dean onto the plane. He also brands them so that the angels can no longer find them so easily.

Lucifer calls on Nick, his chosen vessel, and asks for permission to enter his body. He chooses the form of Nick’s dead wife in order to get permission. Not so surprisingly, Nick gives his permission and becomes the vessel for Lucifer.

Supernatural ends with the boys visiting Bobby in the hospital and having a heartfelt conversation about how Sam chose Dean over his brother and feels like he can never trust him again. I think that trust is going to come into play in later episodes.

The spoiler for next week looks action packed so stay tuned!
