SYTYCD_06_01The highly anticipated return of the reality show So You Think You Can Dance started off with a bang as viewers were shown some fancy, and not so fancy, footwork of contestants battling it out for a spot in this season’s top 20. Returning judges, Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, along with guest judge Adam Shankman, sifted through the long lineup of dancers, determining one by one who would have a chance to become So You Think You Can Dance’s sixth season champion and who would be sent home empty handed. Last night’s audition, the first of seven, was held in Los Angeles.

Contestant Cole Clemens headed up last night’s audition with some sort of bizarre dance and word performance that quickly got him voted off by the judges.

Returning from season five, tappers Ryan Kasprzak and Bianca Revels rendered stunning performances resulting in high praises, along with tickets to Las Vegas to take part in the show’s competition. Also tapping on last night’s season premiere was contestant Phillip Attmore, who also gave a stunning performance, securing him a spot in Vegas. Among the other 25 contestants chosen to battle it out for a spot in the top 20 were contemporary dancers Mollee Gray and Amber Williams, along with salsa dancer Christina Santana. Next week’s auditions are set to take place in Phoenix.
