The location for this weeks paranormal investigation on Ghost Hunters was Essex County Jail in North Caldwell New Jersey. Aided by 2 additional investigators (Josh Gates from Destination Truth and Britt Griffith) Jason and Grant lead the team of regulars on an all night ghost hunt. History of the jail
The Essex County Jail was built in 1873 and closed only five years ago. The jail was used to hold confederate prisoners. The jail has a rich history of suicides, murders, hangings and one inmate that set himself on fire.
The Investigation
Jason, Grant and Josh head in the Center Hall of the Jail where footsteps are commonly heard.
As Josh sees what looks like a person down the end on the hall. The KII meter was detecting some electricity and the place that did not have any power. Kris went into the tunnels alone wearing the head camera. She heard lots of knocking and shuffling all around her and went to investigate the noises. She heads towards the end and heard the sound of dripping water which could account for some of the noises. There were other noises she could not explain.
Steve and Tango start out in the Warden’s House to see what they can find. They start talking and hear a loud noise . They try and figure out what may have caused the noise and Steve bangs on the rafters to see if maybe an animal might come out. All of a sudden, Steve yells and they run out of the attic, only to reveal it was an animal. I think is was a large bat or bird. Steve is the only person I have ever heard of that is scared of everything but ghosts.
In the West Wing we find Jason, Grant and Josh where they hear the sound of running water. There was no water running to the building. Jason saw a shadow moving across cell as he lloked in. At the same time Grant saw something down the hall near the stairs.

Britt and Amy are in the Guard’s locker room In the Guard’s Locker room and hear a loud noise. upon investigating they chase the noise a a flight of stair to the roof, where the door is locked.
Josh, Steve and Tango go in to the Center Hall where Steve was getting high EMF readings. They head up the stairs to check it out. They experience lots of noises while up there which appear to be coming from everywhere. Steve tells the noise to stop and immediately they stop.
Results
In the tower room, just off the guard’s locker room, they captured the loud bang that Amy and Britt heard. The West Wing where the inmate set himself on fire, they caught a sound like jail keys. No one was in the area when this was recorded.
