Warehouse 13 is an interesting new science fiction show. It can best be described as combination of Indiana Jones high adventure and Tthe X-Files with a mildly dangerous but still humorous underscore.
The series premiered on the Syfy channel in the US on July 17, 2009, and became the channel’s 3rd highest rated premiere in its 14 year history with 3.5 million viewers. The premise of the series is a warehouse filled with supernatural artifacts with agents assigned to both guard and collect these objects potentially dangerous. This is a seek and recover prime directive that has been on going for centuries unknown to the general public.
Of course, because these mysterious objects are potentially dangerous it is critical that they are kept hidden and stored out of reach of the public and kept out of the wrong hands. When a new object is uncovered or stolen it is the secret agents assigned to Warehouse 13 who are given the responsibility to recover the artifact before anything dangerous occurs.
This leads the cast on multiple high-stakes supernatural adventures that are both exciting and entertaining.
As the storyline goes, the first warehouse was first built back in 1898 and designed by some highly recognizable geniuses by the names of Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla as well as MC Escher. From the original the latest version is the 13th warehouse and is currently situated in South Dakota.
This science fiction series has a rich history that cleverly blends real life places and events into the story lines. For instance, one of the original warehouses was established at the Library of Alexandria. Before the US government took control the warehouses were kept in such places as Mesopotamia, Rome, England and Russia.
Easily one of the most interesting characters of the show is Arthur Nielsen also known as Artie, played by Saul Rubinek. Artie is the Secret Service agent currently in charge of Warehouse 13. Smart, yet uncouth with social skills falling short of anything considered proper, Artie brings a fully developed persona to this extremely intelligent Syfy channel hit show.
