Eureka is a very entertaining science fiction based TV series from the team over at Syfy. It is easily one of the most original and clever television shows in recent memory. The gist of the show is centered around a small town called Eureka established somewhere in the state of Oregon. This is a unique town just happens to be populated by some of the greatest scientific minds in the world.
The irony is the US government, who of course are in control of this town filled with all of its top secret projects, decide to hire an ‘average Joe’ by the name Jack Carter to Sheriff and police Eureka.
Carter often appears to be a bit half-witted and totally out of place in Eureka, where every resident’s IQ races off the charts. Yet, as you follow the series you discover Sheriff Carter is perhaps the most intelligent inhabitant in all of Eureka.
Top secret high tech science and technology often collide with human mishaps so the little town of Eureka gets more than its fair share of super sophisticated calamities. These are some of the strangest and most unusually types of mishaps – the kind that can only be created in a town filled with super geniuses.
As matters in Eureka go dangerously awry, as they often do, Carter manages to use the most basic and common sense approaches to defuse the numerous disasters created by his supposedly more intelligent counterparts.
This fun, family oriented series was first aired on July 18, 2006, with the pilot episode called “Phoenix Rising.” It was the highest rated series launch in SyFy’s fourteen year history and continues to garner rave reviews as the popular show is now going strong in its third season.
