Jimmy Kimmel (full name James Christian Kimmel) is an American television personality and comedian. He was born on November 13, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York and is of Italian and German heritage.

He has a brother named Jonathan and a sister named Jill Kimmel. Kimmel’s family moved from New York to Nevada when he was a child. Kimmel graduated from Ed W. Clark High School and then attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas for only one year before attending Arizona State University for two years. He left both colleges without completing a degree.

He was married to Gina Kimmel from 1988 to 2003. The pair have two children together, a son named Kevin and a daughter named Katie. After Kimmel’s split from Gina, he began dating fellow comedian Sarah Silverman.

The pair were together for 5 years before separating in the summer of 2008. They reunited in October of the same year, but split again March 2009. Prior to their split the pair were involved in two mock music videos. In February 2008 Kimmel showed his video, which featured a large number of stars called, “I’m Fucking Ben Affleck,” as “revenge” after his then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon recorded a similar video called “I’m Fucking Matt Damon”. Silverman’s video originally aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live while Kimmel was interviewing Silverman, and became an “instant YouTube sensation.”

Along with fellow actor/comedian Adam Carolla and Daniel Kellison, Kimmel runs his own production company, “Jackhole Industries”. It usually backs most of the projects that he is involved with. Kimmel began his radio career while still in high school and was a popular caller on a college radio show during his time at Arizona State University. Kimmel landed his first professional job alongside Voss as morning drive co-host of “The Me and Him Show at” KZOK-FM in Seattle, Washington. He met fellow television personality Carson Daly when Daly was only 12 years old. Years later, he hired Daly as an intern on his morning radio show at KCMJ-FM Palm Springs. The pair worked together again at KROQ-FM Los Angeles. Kimmel was to be the best man at Daly’s planned wedding to Tara Reid before the couple went their separate ways.

After working in radio until 1999, Jimmy left his radio career behind to focus on working in television. His television career began as the comedic partner of Ben Stein on the game show “Win Ben Stein’s Money”. The show began airing on Comedy Central in 1997. With Kimmel’s quick wit and loutish everyman personality he worked well when set alongside Ben Stein’s monotone performing style and patrician demeanor, acting as Stein’s polar opposite on the show and creating an interesting and captivating dynamic. This combination earned the pair an Emmy award for Best Game Show Host.

In 2003 Kimmel began hosting his own late night talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. It became an ongoing joke for Kimmel to end his shows by saying “Sorry Matt Damon, we’re out of time”. Eventually Matt Damon appeared on Kimmel’s show to be interviewed, but only a few seconds into the interview Kimmel responded with the usual “sorry, we’re out of time”. Damon appeared to get very angry at this, but Kimmel later confirmed that Damon was in on the joke.
