Carson Daly Bio

Carson Jones Daly was born on June 22, 1973. He was born in Santa Monica, California, to parents J.D Daly and Pattie Daly. He also has a sister named Quinn. Daly lost his father to bladder cancer when he was only 6 years old, and his mother Pattie is a breast cancer survivor and she and her son have both become breast cancer activists.

Daly currently hosts NBC’s Last Call With Carson Daly, which has been running since 2002. The show breaks out of the traditional talk show mold by introducing a gritty and innovative documentary-style format to late night television. Daly breaks the mold by getting out of the TV studio and bringing audiences Last Call With Carson Daly from a different location each night, taking his viewers with him on the journey.

Some recent highlights from the show include Daly’s motorcycle journey across the iconic Route 66, a visit to Tom Green’s house and an impromptu meeting with Grammy Award Winning band Kings of Leon at a whiskey bar. Daly is also passionate about bringing audiences new and talented musical artists. Artists such as Maroon 5, The Killers, Katy Perry and Gavin DeGraw made their network television debuts on Last Call.

Prior to his television career, Daly attended Santa Monica High School where he was a member of the golf team and graduated in 1991. He won a golf scholarship to Loyola Marymount University where he studied theology, but dropped out of the school after just one year. He then earned an internship at a radio station in the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked in the mid 90s. This led him to four different DJ gigs, and eventually to MTV where he became a VJ on, as well as executive producer and creator of, Total Request Live at just 24. As well as being the host of Last Call, he has also hosted several specials, which include NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly and Macy’s 4th of July Spectacular. Daly also co-founded the independent record label 456 Entertainment. Daly has been nominated for several television awards. He was nominated for four Teen Choice Awards in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 for “Choice TV Personality” and won two of them.

In the past, Carson Daly has been romantically linked with both Jennifer Love Hewitt, whom he dated from 1997-1999. Daly told People Magazine that Hewitt ended the relationship with him by informing her publicist, and when Daly heard the news it was via the radio rather than from Hewitt herself. He was also in a relationship with Tara Reid, to whom he was engaged. The couple met while filming MTV’s Spring Break in Cancun, Mexico, but the relationship ended in June 2001, after the pair postponed their wedding in May 2001. Daly is currently in a relationship with Siri Pinter. The pair had a son, Jackson James Daly, who was born on March 15 2009 weighting 7 lbs, 8 oz.
