Enjoying some high-quality TV while on vacation can be a great way to relax while hanging out at your hotel room or in between other activities. With the recent advances in HD TV in the last few years, the way people watch television has changed drastically. This is a good thing because the quality has improved leaps and bounds over the traditional quality of the television. To better understand what makes HDTV better and of higher quality it helps to examine what exactly this type of TV is and the different types that currently exist.
What Is HD TV
To get a better understanding of what exactly a high definition TV is it’s important to compare it to older style TVs. Basically the way these new products work is by creating a much higher standard of video resolution.
The HD quality is right around five times higher than a standard definition television’s resolution is. In most of these newer style products you will find a large increase in the pixels per frame. This usually ranges somewhere between 1 million and 2 million pixels. Most standard definition televisions have somewhere between 250 and 500 pixels per frame. Another major difference is the way that the content is delivered. Standard televisions used analog signals to broadcast TV programs. The HD TVs are set up to receive digital programming, which requires digital broadcasts using a video compression system.
This brings up another point about what you need to consider regarding how the digital television works. It’s not possible to take advantage of the better picture quality unless you have the digitally broadcasted content available to watch. So there could be a brand-new high definition television sitting in front of you and without the proper content it would not look any different than a regular old TV. You will find that they have a few different formats that you can watch video in. The highest quality available is 1080p which is only available to watch with the Blu-Ray DVD format. You can then find other formats of high-definition programming in 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i. They progressively go down in quality from the highest available, but there is a largely noticeable difference when compared to the standard definition TV.
The Different Types of HDTV Products
There are several different types of digital TV products that currently exist. They all work a little bit differently and they all have varying levels of quality, but they all essentially do the same thing. These include the plasma, LCD, and rear projection TVs. They all work a little bit differently, but are designed to display the same type of content.
The plasma television was one of the first high definition quality TVs to come out on the market. These typically have an excellent picture quality when used in a home theater setting or when watching movies. Their design allows for fairly wide viewing angles, which means you don’t have to be sitting directly in front of the TV to be able to see the picture. These products tend to have excellent motion resolution in comparison to the other types available.
The LCD TV came along after the plasma and has gained a lot of ground on its biggest competitor. You can find these types of products ranging in size anywhere from 5 inches all the way up to over 70 inches. So there is a very wide range of sizes that allows these products to be used in a wide variety of settings. They have been increasingly showing up within hotel rooms and motel rooms across the world because of the added benefit that they provide to guests. It creates a much more enjoyable experience while people are relaxing in their hotel rooms. The viewing angle on this HDTV is not quite as wide as the plasma, but it still is good. The picture quality is also not quite as good when comparing the two, but it still has an extremely amazing display.
The last type is the rear projection models that were popular for a short period of time and then kind of died off. It is still possible to find these TVs in hotels, but it is not as common as the other two types. The picture quality on these products is just as good as the other two available even though it uses a little bit different technology. It’s similar to the older types of big-screen TVs except they reduced the number of bulbs it contains down to one. This makes it much more practical to buy and the advance in their quality has made them enjoyable to watch.
With the advances in technology is has made television watching a much more enjoyable and real experience. The quality is truly amazing and it only continues to get better and better. There isn’t much better way to enjoy time relaxing than watching amazing video quality on an HD TV.
