This includes the box system and the custom system.

The Box System
The box home audio system can be described as any home audio setup that you can buy that comes with all the pieces that you would need.

This would include an audio receiver, front speakers, surround speakers, center channel, and a subwoofer. Depending on what type of setup you’re looking for you can buy different types of speaker kits to help you out. A 2.1 setup would include two front speakers, a subwoofer, and a receiver. A 5.1 setup would include two front speakers, two rear surround speakers, a center channel, a subwoofer, and an audio receiver. To get the true surround experience it would be recommended to buy a system that at least had enough speakers to be able to play in the 5.1 setup. This will provide a much better audio experience when watching movies within the home.

There are lots of different companies that manufacture complete kits that are available for purchase. You can find some very high end setups from manufacturers such as BOSE and you can find some fairly low end setups from manufacturers such as Sony. There can be drastic differences in the level of quality that exist when buying a boxed system. Generally more expensive kits are going to produce a higher quality sound. Prices for this type of system can range anywhere from $50 all the way up to several thousand dollars.

The Custom System
A custom audio system is where consumers can really create a unique home audio experience within their homes. Basically when buying a custom system you are choosing each piece individually and it’s possible to mix and match different parts to produce a truly unique setup. In the majority of cases it will be much more expensive to go this route because the speakers and receivers are going to be of higher quality and can come with a higher price tag.

Home audio systems can go all the way up to 7.1 these days, which means that you will have seven channel speakers as well as a subwoofer and receiver. This type of setup allows for two front speakers, a center channel, two rear surround speakers, two side surround speakers, and a subwoofer. In order to accomplish this type of setup it will be necessary to have an audio receiver that is capable of playing in the 7.1 format. Without a compatible receiver it will not be possible to produce the individual channels that are necessary to properly play sound in this format.

Since this would be considered a custom audio system in most cases it’s going to cost more money. To get a complete system where you buy each element individually you can expect to spend anywhere from $200 or $300 for a very low-end system all the way up to over $100,000 for some of the nicest home theater audio systems that exist. Obviously it’s important to consider your budget when going this route so that you choose something that works well for what you can afford.

As the popularity of the home audio system increases there are going to continue to be more advances in the technology and way that people enjoy movies from within their homes. Almost anyone can enjoy a setup that allows them to take advantage of surround sound because there are products available for all types of budgets. Just find something that meets your budget and you will be very happy with your new home theater sound.
