Through out the years, individuals have been introduced to several video options. All of these media options have provided individuals the opportunity to experience and enjoy videos in the comfort of their own home, as opposed to having to go to a theater to watch a movie.
The development of the VHS video cassette tape was one of the first establishments to allow for an in home movie experience. The video cassette was simply loaded into the video player, and produced a visual and audio experience. Several problems were associated with video tapes quickly after they became a popular it. Video cassettes only allowed users to watch a movie around two hundred times. After constant video play, the VCR would “eat” the tape.
Eating the tape was evident when the film inside of the cassette was pulled out of the plastic box and possibly ripped inside of the VCR.
Soon after the problems were widely recognized in association with the VHS, the use of DVDs become popular. This allowed a user to watch a movie at a slightly higher quality than a video cassette. DVDs could be run in a DVD player or on a computer system. DVDs contain media which is burnt onto a compact disc. A scratch on the surface of a DVD could result in skipping or the inability to watch the media components.
The newest, and by far the best media storage unit is the Blu-Ray. A Blu-Ray is a high definition version of a movie. Blu-Rays display some of the best imaginable picture quality that has ever been developed. A Blu-Ray provides a viewer with the most realistic version of any movie ever created. Blu-Rays, also known as BR, are new optical disc storage mediums. They were designed to far exceed the quality of any DVD format. Blu-Rays contain data storage that relays over a media play through high definition audio, stereoscopic 3D, 1080p High Definition video.
A Blu-Ray is played in your home either with the use of a Blu-Ray player or a Playstation 3 gaming console. The Blu-Ray player or game console must be hooked up to a High Definition television in order to achieve the best picture quality possible.
